Microsoft e-Learning at Boston College
Account Setup Instructions and Information
Summary:  Microsoft's e-Learning allows Boston College faculty, staff, and students to take advantage of a wide range of online courses that cover Microsoft's operating systems (XP and Vista) and Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) whenever they want. You must be using Windows and Internet Explorer; the Microsoft e-Learning classes are not accessible on a Mac or with any other Web browser.

As part of Boston College’s license agreement with Microsoft, we are now able to bring you Microsoft’s e-Learning courses. If you enjoy a self-paced, Web-based learning environment, then Microsoft e-Learning is for you.

To access the Microsoft e-Learning courses:

Obtain the New Window Will Open Boston College access code. BC sign-in required (BC sign-in required)
Do not share the code with any unauthorized users; this violates our license agreement with Microsoft.
   


To gain initial access to the Microsoft e-Learning courses using your access code, please follow these steps (one time only):

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
    Note: you must be using Windows and Internet Explorer; the Microsoft e-Learning classes are not accessible on a Mac or with any other Web browser.
  2. Go to: New Window Will Open https://business.microsoftelearning.com/activate/
  3. Enter the New Window Will Open Boston College access code BC sign-in required (BC sign-in required) (the code is case sensitive), your email address, and your preferred language, then click Send.
  4. Click the Sign In button.
  5. You are prompted to sign in using a valid Windows Live ID.
    If you don't have a Windows Live ID, you need to create one. Choose the Sign Up Now button and follow the instructions on the screen. We strongly recommend that you do not use your BC username and password for this account.
  6. You receive an email confirming your registration.
  7. From the confirmation email, click the link to complete the email confirmation and activate your courses.
  8. You are prompted to sign-in using a valid Windows Live ID, once again.
  9. A confirmation page appears indicating that the access code has been accepted.
  10. Click the My Learning link to see a list of available courses.
  11. Click on a course title to launch the offering.

Note: You have 12 months from the time of launch to finish that course.

   


To access your course(s) at any subsequent time, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to:New Window Will Open https://business.microsoftelearning.com/
    Note: You may want to add this URL to your bookmarks.
  2. Click the Sign In button in the upper right corner of the page.
  3. Sign in to Windows Live using your Windows Live ID and password.
  4. Click the My Learning link on the left side of the page, under Customer Login.
  5. Resume your e-Learning course.
