Running a Disk Cleanup
Windows Vista and XP
Summary:  Learn how to run a Disk Cleanup on your Windows Vista or XP computer.

To run a Disk Cleanup on your Windows Vista or XP computer:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs or All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Disk Clean-up.
    Note: If you are using a Windows Vista computer, click My files only (see Figure 1).

  2. Windows Vista (see Figure 2): Check Temporary Internet Files and Setup Log Files, then click OK.
    Windows XP: Check Temporary Files, then click OK.

  3. Windows Vista: Click Delete Files (see Figure 3).
    Windows XP: Click Yes (see Figure 4).
