Emailing links to shared files and folders
Summary:  After you grant sharing permissions to people to access your files or folders in MyFiles@bc, you need to let them know how to get to those files or folders. Learn how to do this by sending an email containing a link to the shared files or folders.

Note: The email will contain a link to the shared file. The actual file will not be attached.

To email the link of a file or folder:

  1. Make sure to grant access permissions to files or folders to people you want to share with. Learn how to set up sharing of your files or folders.

  2. Locate the file or folder. Learn about navigating folders.

  3. Next to the name of the file or folder, select the box (see Figure 1).
Note: Make sure the file or folder is shared, which is indicated by the green share icon Share icon in the Share column.

The Email Links to Your Files page appears (see Figure 2).

  5. You have 2 options for emailing a link to a file or folder:
Option 1: This option emails a direct link to the file or folder. Use this option if you only need others to read the file with no other options.
    -- OR --
Option 2: This option emails a link to the File or Folder Information page, which gives a link to the file or folder with other options.

Once you decide which option you want to use, do the following (see Figure 2):
    • To send an email from any computer using BC's Web-based email application, click WebMail.
    • If you are at your personal computer, to send an email using your desktop email application (i.e., Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.), click Desktop Email.

Figure 2: Next to Option 1 or Option 2, click WebMail or Desktop Email.
