MyFiles@bc (Retiring December 2015)

(To access MyFiles from off-campus, you must use EagleVPN.)

MyFiles@bc will be retired by the end of 2015. At that time, any data on MyFiles@bc will no longer be accessible. This was decided because in the 10 years since MyFiles@bc was implemented, better and more cost-effective file storage and sharing solutions have emerged on campus. Also, according to the vendor, the future of MyFiles@bc is uncertain.

Recommended Early Action

Important: File/folder permissions are not migrated. After you move your data, if you have files/folders you want to share with others, you will need to set up sharing for those files/folders. Learn how to set up sharing in Google Drive.

REVIEW what you store in MyFiles@bc. Your files will fall under one of four categories, each will require a different approach.

  1. Files no longer needed: No action will be required.
  2. Files you want to keep: Move any (non-confidential) files you still need to Google Drive, the BC WikiCanvas, department servers, etc.
  3. Files that contain confidential data: Secure, restricted, or confidential files need to be considered carefully. You can move them to your deparment server or Google Drive with CloudLock Selective Encryption.
  4. Departmental and group folders: If you want your departmental/group folders moved to Google Drive, please contact the Help Center at 617-552-HELP (4357).
