Pre-installation

  1. Print this page for reference.

  2. Uninstall any previous versions of Microsoft Office you have installed. To uninstall earlier versions of Office:
XP: Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Vista and Windows 7: Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall a Program

Note: If you need assistance uninstalling previous versions of Office, please contact the Help Center at 617-552-HELP (2-HELP from on-campus) or help.center@bc.edu.

  3. Download Microsoft Office 2010 (BC Login Required). Save the Office2010.exe installation file to your desktop. Do not install the application at this time.
    NOTE:
    • There may be a slight delay before your download starts.
    • Due to the Office 2010 installer's large file size, it may take a few minutes to download.
    • To prevent disruptions to the download, we recommend that you use a high-speed, wired connection to the Internet, such as a broadband or DSL connection. Wireless connections are usually less stable and may cause your download to take longer or fail.
  4. Quit any open applications.

NOTE: If you are upgrading from an earlier version of Office to Office 2010, uninstall the old version first before trying to install Office 2010.
