Boston College ITS has recognized the need to streamline the process of web site creation and maintenance at BC. After reviewing and testing many different systems, Serena Collage was selected as the new web publishing system for Boston College. Implementation of Collage will transform the way BC web sites are created and maintained through the following means:
- Collage is a web-based system providing a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface that does not require knowledge of HTML or other Web technologies.
- Unlike WebIT, the current Web management tool developed at BC, Collage does not require the use of an HTML editor, such as Dreamweaver.
- To meet the goal of providing users with current and accurate information, Collage enables Site Managers and content providers of varying skill levels a system for quick and easy edit of Web page content.
- As Collage is a web-based application it can be used from on or off campus.
- The entire process of creating a web page, adding it to the site structure, creating content, and publishing the page on the web is handled by the one application.
- Collage tracks and maintains versions of Web pages allowing publication or "roll-back" of specified versions of the page.
- Hands-on training will be provided on-site during the conversion process. Users will be supported by the ITS Web Tech Group and the ITS Help Center.
