What is the BC Spam Quarantine Service?
Automatic spam detection and deletion overview
- To prevent spam or junk email from reaching your email account's inbox, ITS uses a spam blocking service which quarantines email messages it detects as being spam rather than delivering the messages to Junk folders.
- ITS is confident that messages that are quarantined are spam. However as you did with your Junk folder, it’s a good idea to periodically review the list of quarantined messages.
- The blocking service automatically applies a rating called a “spam score” to all junk mail. Messages with a spam score of 100 (100% spam) are automatically deleted from quarantine after 14 days. All other quarantined messages are deleted after 90 days. You may select to have all quarantined mail deleted after 14 days. Learn how.
- The BC Spam Quarantine Service is easily accessed on the web via a login link in BC WebMail or the Agora Portal.

When you make a selection, the top of the lefthand panel changes to display the submenu for that particular view (see Figures 5, 6, and 7).

Delete a message
Unless released to your Inbox, all quarantined messages will automatically be deleted. Messages with a spam score of 100 (100% spam) are automatically deleted from quarantine after 14 days. All other quarantined messages are deleted after 90 days. The score for each message is listed. If you would like to remove a message manually, select it and click the Delete icon (see Figure 11).
