Showing the Full Message Headers of an Email

You might want to see the full message headers of an email to report evidence of electronic abuse. Note: You must show the full message headers of the email when you forward it to abuse@bc.edu.

To show the full message headers and forward that email using:

Apple Mail

To forward message headers in Apple Mail to abuse@bc.edu:

  1. Open the message in Apple Mail.
  2. From the View menu, point to Message and select Long Headers.
  3. Forward the message to abuse@bc.edu.

Outlook

Outlook 2010
To forward message headers in Outlook to abuse@bc.edu:

  1. Open the message in Outlook.
  2. Click the File tab.
  3. Click Properties.
  4. Copy and paste the Internet headers text into an email to send to abuse@bc.edu.

Outlook 2011 for Mac
To forward message headers in Outlook to abuse@bc.edu:

  1. Right-click (or <Ctrl>-click) on the message and select View Source.
    The message header appears in the source.
  2. Copy and paste the message header text into an email to send to abuse@bc.edu.
