2013-2014 Healthy Eating Campaign
Nourish is a year-long healthy eating campaign that is a partnership between Dining Services and the Office of Health Promotion. Look for Nourish signage and information in the dining halls. For more info on the Nourish Program, visit the Office of Health Promotions website.
The April Nourish message is Get Your Calcium-Rich Foods.
Diets with adequate calcium help the body to achieve peak bone mass and strong teeth. You aren't finished building new bone until after college age, so now is the time to get your calcium rich foods!
Calcium rich foods include milk, yogurt, cheese, calcium-fortified juices and milk alternatives, like soy milk. Some green leafy vegetables, like kale and bok choy, are good sources, too, but you need almost 2 cups, cooked to get the same amount as in one cup milk.
