CSON students and faculty hosted the BC Runs for Haiti 5k on O’Neil Plaza on Sunday, September 18, 2016. The annual event raises funds to purchase medications and medical supplies for CSON students to deliver to Haitian communities during their mission trip each winter. This year they raised $3,695, making it their most successful fundraiser to date.
Graduate students Alexandra May and Lindsay Williams have won scholarships as part of the TOGETHER WE CARE® Nurse Practitioner Scholarship Program sponsored by MinuteClinic and Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. The scholarships, both worth $2,500, are awarded to future nurse practitioners across the United States.
Clinical Associate Professor Susan DeSanto-Madeya has been named a 2016 Sojourns Scholar by Cambia Health Foundation, as part of its initiative to advance palliative care in the U.S. She is one of 10 physicians and nurses selected from around the country for Cambia Health Foundation’s Sojourns Scholar Leadership Program.
Professor Ann Wolbert Burgess, a pioneer in the field of forensic nursing and an internationally recognized leader in the treatment of victims of trauma and abuse, has been designated a “Living Legend” by the American Academy of Nursing, the academy’s highest honor. Burgess is one of five nurses being recognized this year by the AAN.
