Michael Lister | Assistant Principal, Saltonstall School
Michael Lister is the Assistant Principal of the Saltonstall School in Salem MA, a role he has held since September of 2012. The Saltonstall School serves students kindergarten through eighth grade featuring a program for students with languagebased learning disabilities grades 38. Before becoming assistant principal, Michael taught as a special education inclusion teacher for two years while also acting as an assistant to the principal, a nonevaluative leadership role at the Saltonstall School. Michael began his career at the Carlton School in Salem where he taught for ten years. He taught for two years as a regular education third grade teacher and as a special education teacher in a selfcontained classroom for students with social/ emotional disabilities for his first eight years. He earned his BA from Merrimack College in English, his MEd from Salem State University in Special education and his C.A.G.S. from Salem State University in Educational Leadership. Michael has also worked in the agricultural field as an assistant farmer on local organic farms infusing and utilizing his educational background to collaborate and lead great work crews. His wife is the owner and founder of a Sustainable Event Design and Catering company and they are the proud parents of their two and a half year old daughter.
