Brittny DeMatteo | Inclusion Specialist, City on a Hill Circuit Street
Brittny DeMatteo is currently the Inclusion Specialist at City on a Hill Charter Public School Circuit Street. Her area of concentration is English and Literacy. She works with teachers at each grade level to ensure that that sttudents are able to access the rigorous English curriculum City on a Hill offers while reinforcing the foundational skills needed to do so. One of the experiences that changed her life in a profound way and ultimately moved her to choose a career in education was the work she completed in Lawrence, Massachusetts, tutoring fourth, fifth, and sixth graders in ELA and working with ESL students while completing her undergraduate degree at Merrimack College as part of the Lawrence Math and Science Partnership. After this experience, Brittny continued her work in education at Lawrence Family Development Charter School as an ELA instructional learning assistant working primarily with small groups of ESL/ELL and special education students in the 5th and 6th grade. Brittny went on to work as a 6th grade general education and preK through grade 6 Spanish teacher in Medford, MA. She then became the founding Special Education Teacher and Autism Inclusion Program Specialist with Unlocking Potential in Lawrence, where she completed her Special Education practicum and certification. Brittny graduated Summa Cum Laude from Merrimack College in 2010 with a B.A. in Political Science and English.
