Multinational Study Launched

25 June 2009—In the midst of today’s looming global economic challenges, our workforce is increasingly characterized by the globalization of human capital and a dramatic shift in age composition.  Recognizing these trends is the easy part; getting the right kind of information needed for workforce decision-making has been notably difficult.    

Funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Generations of Talent Study will conduct an employee survey with up to 10 employers in 30 worksites worldwide. The Study will address the following core questions:

  1. How do employees’ priorities, needs, utilization of workplace-based resources, and satisfaction with quality of employment vary by their age, career stage, and life stage?
  2. How are workplace-based resources for quality of employment related to employees’ current engagement in work, productivity, and future career transitions in different countries?
  3. How does country context, including public policies and cultural orientations, influence employees’ priorities, needs, utilization of workplace-based resources, and evaluations of quality of employment?

To accomplish these ambitious goals, the center has formed an esteemed team of research partners from Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America, Latin America, South Africa, and more.  We are currently inviting participation from multi-national employers who share our commitment to promoting quality of employment as a business imperative.  Data collection is scheduled to begin in early 2010.
