The Boston College Welcome Wagon is an undergraduate volunteer program staffed by a dedicated group of BC students who are ready and eager to ensure that every incoming first-year student has a positive move-in experience. Welcome Wagon recruits well over 400 volunteers each year and hires approximately 15 leaders.
Move-in is a stressful time for all involved. Welcome Wagon is designed to ease everyone’s frustrations and keep the day running smoothly. This enthusiastic group prepares for campus opening throughout the summer to welcome first year students to campus!
This year, Welcome Wagon will boast well over 400 volunteers. Welcome Wagon volunteers physically move items into the residence halls and greet students with immediate representation of the quality of character exhibited by Boston College undergraduates. Volunteers should be accessible to answer any questions or concerns that may arise throughout the day. All volunteers with a housing assignment for the fall semester will be able to move in early.
Each year, Welcome Wagon hires a dedicated group of team leaders, typically 15, who coordinate and oversee the move-in process. Leaders’ responsibilities include organizing and motivating the volunteers, being an active participant in Move-in Day activities, and fostering positive relationships among team members. Team leaders also enjoy an even earlier move-in date and a chance to exhibit great leadership in an on campus setting. Leader applicants will be contacted to set up a phone interview by mid-July. All final decisions will be made by the end of July.

All volunteers and leaders can use our Welcome Wagon Application to sign up for the program. Leader applicants will be contacted for follow up interviews as we proceed in the selection process.
All applicants will receive a follow up email in mid-July with more details about early move in and the Welcome Wagon team.
Student groups are welcome! Please have individual students use the application form above to sign up for the program. If you would like your student group placed together in one hall for move in, please email us with your request and be sure to have your students indicate their student group affiliation on the application. Group placement requests must be submitted by August 1st.
Perks of participating in Welcome Wagon differ based on your position. Leaders and volunteers will receive an early move in waiver (housing fee waiver of $75/day) for every day that Welcome Wagon requires them to be on campus. Leaders will also receive a one time stipend.
