Student Employment

Campus Recreation offers many opportunities for undergraduate and graduate student employment.

If you would like to apply for any positions, fill out the PDF application, save it to your computer and hand deliver it to the Member Services Office in the Flynn Recreation Complex. Some jobs may not have a PDF application. Instead, email the listed documents or information to the person listed in the job description.

Fall 2018 Available Positions

Spin Instructor

Looking for the following shift coverage: Monday at 9 am and 12 pm, Tuesday at 7:30 am, and Friday at 9am and 5pm. 

Requirements

  • Indoor cycling certified
  • Minimum of 1 year of certified teaching experience
  • Valid adult, child and infant CPR/AED and First Aid certification upon hire (can complete after hire, but before first shift)

Responsibilities

  • Instruct safe and effective spin classes
  • Provide customer service
  • Maintain positive, upbeat and helpful attitude
  • Prepare music and workouts
  • Maintain room cleanliness and equipment organization
  • Record class attendance
  • Enforce policies
  • Provide emergency response

Hourly Rate: $16.00/hr

Lifeguard

Job Description

  • Prevent aquatic-related emergencies as a member of a risk management team
  • Provide great customer service
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks
  • Assist with special needs of members and guests in compliance with ADA regulations
  • Assist as a member of an event management team

Requirements

  • Current CPR/AED, First Aid & Lifeguard certifications
  • Pass staff in-service skill test
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent physical and mental strength

Starting pay rate: $11.50/hr

Water Safety Instructions (Private/Semi-Private Swim Lessons)

Job Description

  • Provide WSI based instruction to youth and adults
  • Teach lesson in packs of five, 30-60 minute blocks
  • Consistent weekly schedule

  • Certifications (WSI)

Starting pay rate: $16.00/hr

Yoga Instructor

Looking for the following shift coverage: Tuesday at 12:30 pm.

Requirements

  • Yoga Alliance RYT Certified
  • Certified yoga instructors without teaching experience will be considered
  • Valid adult, child and infant CPR/AED and First Aid certification upon hire (can complete after hire, but before first shift)

Tennis Instructor

Job Description

  • Instruct private lessons for clients in groups of 1-3, some group lesson instructing is available

Requirements

  • Prior playing experience
  • Prior instructing experience required
  • Flexible hours for private lessons
  • Strong interpersonal skills & enthusiasm
  • Must work well with children

Facility Maintenance

Job Description

  • Light cleaning, vacuuming, and organizing
  • Facility set-up and breakdown
  • Available shifts are: Weekdays 8 am - 4 pm

Requirements

  • Physically strong and able to perform lifting/moving
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Works well independently

Starting pay rate: $11.75/hr
