international education week

From November 15th through the 19th, Boston College celebrated International Education Week (IEW).  IEW was initiated in 2000 by the US Department of State and the US Department of Education. It is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. The week is dedicated to enhancing international awareness across Boston College campus as well as to reinforcing the importance of the exchange of students and scholars across borders.  After a two year hiatus, IEW was brought back to BC, and this year it was bigger and better than ever.  The 2010 Boston College International Education Week was sponsored by a number of BC offices and student groups including the Office of International Students and Scholars, Office of International Programs, Center for Human Rights and International Justice, Center for International Higher Education, International Studies Program, Boston College Libraries, Boston College Dining Services, BC Bookstore, International Club of Boston College and Graduate International Student Association.  In addition to these sponsors, dozens of other departments and student organizations contributed to the week.  Together, these offices and organizations coordinated over 35 events.  Highlights included the World Through Our Eyes Photo Exhibition, internationally themed lectures and panels by BC faculty and guest speakers, international food tastings, dance performances and much more.
