SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY AND MINISTRY INCREASES INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE
On June 1, 2008 the Weston Jesuit School of Theology and the Institute of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry combined to form the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry (STM). The STM’s students include Jesuits as well as lay men and women seeking master’s degrees in theology, pastoral ministry, theological studies, religious education and spiritual direction or a doctoral degree in philosophy, theology and education. Besides contributing to BC’s Jesuit tradition, the STM has attracted a number of international students from around the world. The STM’s 49 international students have not only increased the total number of international students at BC but have helped to greatly diversify the university’s student population. Several of these new students come from countries that have either been underrepresented or never represented at Boston College. Such nations include St. Kitts and Nevis, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Benin, Zambia, DR Congo and Cameroon.
