Information Technology Services

Celebrating the Class of 2020

Information Technology Services works closely with many students throughout the department. For staff who collaborate with students, getting to know them and seeing them grow throughout their years at BC is one of the most fulfilling parts of our jobs.

This year was like no other. For the first time, we weren't able to congratulate you in person. Many ITS staff volunteer as Commencement Hosts or work to support the event, itself, and look forward to being able to see you one last time on your graduation day.

Unfortunately, that wasn't possible, but we hope this page will at least approach adequately expressing how much we appreciate your work and your letting us become a small part of your experiences here at Boston College.

Good luck, and we hope to see you in October!

Please first select an ITS group below, then read what some ITS colleagues had to say about the students we will miss next year.

We were very excited to have Nick join us in ITS! We enjoyed having Nick work with our various ITS  team members on projects, and he is also a lot of fun.  It was sad that the year ended so quickly, but we wish him the absolute best in his future endeavors!

- Rose Tagliamonte, Project Lead / Senior Applications Systems Analyst, Applications Services

Lily was my secret favorite student. She did an awesome job for Help Desk. Customers raved about her and her co-workers spoke glowingly as well. Wish we could have another year together. Good luck and thank you!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Amanda Callahan, A&S 2020

Amanda has worked supporting Communications & Training since her freshman year, and I am going to miss her. She’s smart, funny, creative, and has always been willing to take on any ITS task asked of her, even when she wasn’t thrilled to do so (and yes, it was usually obvious). I always admired how she was able to juggle so many responsibilities, and I know that no matter what she does or where she goes, she’ll bring what she learned at BC with her. I have a daughter in high school now, and if she turns out anything like Mandy, I'll be thrilled.

- Jon McGrath, ITS Training

Emily, our time working together was cut short by the pandemic and the fact you were already a senior. :(  You were very quiet, and always prompt and efficient in your work. Thank you for all you did in the Help Center!   It was great working with you.  Congratulations and best wishes!

- Renee Croxen, Assistant Manager, Help Desk

Joe Foto came out of nowhere to become a major player for BCWIHD  He took on the remote printer maintenance gig, was instrumental in early PaperCut support and transitioned to Help Desk from LTD effortlessly. Tremendous ownership and a real team player. Great job, thanks, Joe!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Aileen was BCWIHD Lead this year and her guidance and leadership resulted in one of the best years we’ve ever had at Help Desk. A true motivator, she deeply cared about our customers and skillfully fostered her co-workers. Outstanding daily effort, and implemented many improvements to our operation that will benefit us all for years to come. Thanks, Aileen, you were such a help and a lot of fun!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Justin stepped up and became a leader during his final year. Started taking ownership and became indispensable. Great with customers and always looking to improve on our operation. A true EagleTech!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Rebecca was our anchor on the front desk most mornings, and seeing her early in the AM helping out folks was a great way to start the day. Helped create the current LTD experience, and kept those crowds moving. Wonderful job!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Michael Kelley is the epitome of what EagleTech’s could be. He was all about customer service and getting the job done right. Worked hard to develop his tech skills and was happy to share that knowledge with co-workers. Despite being a little outside of his comfort zone, he rose to the occasion and excelled as a BCWIHD employee. Hats off to you, Mike. I valued our times together.

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

I did not get to work a lot with Azim, but I heard he’s a great guy! The fact that he stayed under my radar for all that time is a testament to his skills. It means he did his job and did it well. Much luck for the future!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Minji only worked for us for a semester and then she was gone, still not sure where? In that short time she proved to be a quality person with good skills and a great attitude. Come back Minji!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Andrew is another guy that came out of nowhere to step up and take charge of the LTD. During the first few weeks with Papercut, he was instrumental in solving print issues and keeping those crowds under control. Solid performer and super dependable; thank you, sir!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Autumn was with us only a short time but she did a great job with customers and got up to speed quickly. Friendly and fun, wish we had more time!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Master Lee hit the floor running and took over my operation in the first week. The customers loved him, his co-workers tolerated him. Truthfully, an awesome tech that contributed a lot to our organization. So many great ideas and suggestions for improvement, all while being a cheerful, enthusiastic, and engaging staff member.. He will be missed!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Mona, Thank You!    It was a pleasure having you in the Help Center these past two years. Your joyful presence was appreciated.  The work you did covering dispatch, HC phones and the general inquiry line, plus special projects was invaluable.  We could see the quality of your work and your studies were very important to you.  You are on to a big, bright future. Congratulations and Best Wishes!

- Renee Croxen, Assistant Manager, Help Desk

Lia worked full time the summer we instituted PaperCut and she knew more about that product than I do to this day. What a great job helping us trouble-shoot problems and write up documentation. She was a force of nature on the LTD. Strong leadership and job knowledge - great job!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

I don’t usually hire seniors, but Jackie showed me why that’s not always the way to go. He was great with customers and did a super job all around. Good hire, excellent job!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

I could write volumes about this classy lady. She was a team player, excellent trouble-shooter and did it all with style. Front desk or Help Desk, she got the job done!  Wish you great things for the future!!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

I literally told this man I would adopt him as my own son. He is thoughtful, mature, and so talented. Another perfect example of a student employee that grew and prospered with us. He set the bar pretty high and I predict great things ahead!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Tenzin was the queen of the LTD. I never had to worry if I saw her at the front desk, it was going to be a smooth shift. There was some concern about her hair lacking shine but they were all just jealous! Seriously, awesome job!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

I did not get to work with Tara often, but I was always happy to see her at the Front Desk. A sweet smile and friendly attitude, our customers and co-workers all benefited from her knowledge and kindness. Many thanks!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Although Emily only worked in ITS Training for a year, it was a memorable one. Emily immediately fit right in with the group, and had terrific ideas. She learned new technology very quickly, and the office was a better place every day she was there. Sure, we had to close some doors once in a while because she laughed loudly, but it was well worth it! Emily, I wish it could have been more than a year, but we’re glad you were with us!

- Jon McGrath, ITS Training

Steven Son was a third rate employee and kind of a goofball. Despite his technical shortcomings and lack of any real job skills, the customers loved him! Seriously, though, I treasured the times we spent together. He was a great employee, made me laugh, and I wish him well in the future.

 - Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

I did not know what to make of Jinoo when he first started. He turned out to be a truly sweet person who really cares about those around him. I can honestly say I learned something from him about human nature. High expectations for this one!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Dan was with us for a couple of years, quality performance all the way. He worked on honing his tech skills and his customer service was top notch. This guy had it all and consistently led by example. A true BC Help Desk champ!

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Senta has been a wonderful resource in the TC Library department. She was there when I started and made my transition so much easier. It was always amazing to see her balance her responsibilities at work with her intensive Nursing academic workload. Her bright smile always brightened the day of all the staff that we support.  I hope you do find yourself back in Boston for work after graduation! Please reach out if there is anything I can do to help!

- Ben Tan, Associate Technology Consultant

Li Wen helped out in so many ways, she worked a lot of different jobs and always had a big smile and great attitude.

- Mike McMahon, Senior Help Desk Specialist, Help Desk

Zach joined the Audio Services family after taking my Sound Design for Film course, and I am so glad that he did. Zach brought a different perspective to the office, based on his background in theater production, and I always appreciated the way he approached the job. Zac - you are a great person and it has been a privilege to get to know you. All the best to you in the future.

 - Jon Sage, Supervisor, Audio & Event Services

Austin has been a long time member of the Audio Services family. He is someone who has become a leader in the office, as well as in the field. He’s been a terrific mentor to employees coming up, a friend to all. Austin - best of luck in your next pursuits. It has been an honor having you on the team.

 - Jon Sage, Supervisor, Audio & Event Services

I’ve always emphasized family when it comes to working in our office. I’ve known you a long time, and know that family has always been number one for you. Dermot being the oldest of six has done a tremendous job balancing his life to be supportive of his own siblings, and his new family of friends at BC over the past four years. Dermot, keep being a part of everyone’s family.

 - Mark Benjamin, Supervisor, Classroom Technology Support

I’ve known Reuben since his first year of T-Ball.  You have come a long way since then! I’ve watched you grow over the years, and when you arrived in our department as a freshman, you continued to flourish. You immediately connected with your fellow workers, and were always keeping the lively conversations going. Keep the ball rolling and great things will come. LAX-MAN

 - Mark Benjamin, Supervisor, Classroom Technology Support

Peter, you were the fourth and last of your siblings to work for us in MTS.  You were a pleasure to work with the past four years.  We finally had a Bellantonio to talk sports with!  I’m sure you're texting with Jim Hutchinson right now about Martin Jarmond. We will see you at a tailgate in the future as we root on the Jeff Hafley era.

 - Mark Benjamin, Supervisor, Classroom Technology Support

The four years here with us Gibran have flown by. We’ve enjoyed conversations with you over the years whether they were work related, pop culture, or political.  You have strong convictions and they will lead you to greater heights. I regret we did not meet up in Barcelona last June, but we definitely will meet up again. Continue to be strong and reach for the moon.

 - Mark Benjamin, Supervisor, Classroom Technology Support

Our department is always excited when another legacy student arrives. Alex, it has been four great years having you part of our family.  You juggled a lot of things, and always stayed on top.  We enjoyed being a part of your journey with the BC marching band too. Many of us agree that you and the BC band had much greater success than the teams you performed for. Keep marching forward, and looking to see you perform again someday at Alumni Stadium.

 - Mark Benjamin, Supervisor, Classroom Technology Support

We were so blessed when Olivia dropped you off on our family doorstep two years ago. You were a joy to have!  You were everyone's sister here, and we all loved your passion for life.  You always studied hard, and accomplished twice as much work than most others could do each day.  Prof. Schatkin needs your help with playing a DVD.  Stay STRONG! Stay in touch and we’ll all see you again.

 - Mark Benjamin, Supervisor, Classroom Technology Support

Gabe, it was great having you with us the past four years. You are a true friend to all those you come in contact with.  We like that you are an inquisitive person.  Knowledge is a great thing, and your pursuit of it will take you to greater places. We all believe in you that you will accomplish great things, so continue on with your success, and pick up the check for us the next time we get to go out to eat.

 - Mark Benjamin, Supervisor, Classroom Technology Support

As I’ve said before Thank you for all you’ve done for me, your co-workers, and our clients, at the Newton Office. I know you’ll do great things in the coming years.

 - Wayne Daley, Assistant Director, Newton Audiovisual Services

We just got to know Brian this year, and we’re glad we did. You are a gentle soul with so much to give.  You’ve embraced the Jesuit values which makes you the generous person you are today. You are always putting others first, and we hope you continue with these ideals as you move forward.  All the best, and hopefully we see you again soon.

 - Mark Benjamin, Supervisor, Classroom Technology Support

Emma was the fourth and last Walsh sibling to work for us.  How blessed we’ve been with four Walshes and four Bellantonios for the past decade.  With Emma, they saved the best for last! (sorry, Peter, I can’t dis your sisters). Your smile each day made others feel cared for, and your sense of humor put smiles on all our faces. You really encompassed the sense of family with us, and obviously with your own. You and your eight fellow seniors will always be family, and remember that BC has great graduate programs.

 - Mark Benjamin, Supervisor, Classroom Technology Support

Thank you for everything you’ve done over the last year Paddy. You have always been a source of calm and good humor and it has been a pleasure to work with you.

- Christ Soldt, Manager, Graphics, Photography & Web Design Services

You helped me take my skills to another level and I only wish that we could have worked together for longer. I am truly going to miss you.

 - Christ Soldt, Manager, Graphics, Photography & Web Design Services

I am so fortunate that I got to work with you for 4 years. It has been a pleasure  to watch you become an even more amazing person. You made me a better manager and person. I honestly can’t imagine our office without you. Thank you.

- Christ Soldt, Manager, Graphics, Photography & Web Design Services

Thank you for everything that you have done over the last two years Erin. It has been a pleasure and I am truly going to miss you.

- Christ Soldt, Manager, Graphics, Photography & Web Design Services

I am truly going to miss you Kaitlin. Thank you for all of the late shoots that you covered and for always being able to make me laugh.

- Christ Soldt, Manager, Graphics, Photography & Web Design Services

You made me a better teacher and I am lucky that I got to work with you for 3 years. Thank you for being the amazing person that you are and I am glad to call you my friend.

- Christ Soldt, Manager, Graphics, Photography & Web Design Services

Thank you for everything Krista. I always knew that I could rely on you in a pinch and never let me down. I can’t believe that it has been 3 years and probably 6 pairs of checkerboard Vans between us. I will miss you.

- Christ Soldt, Manager, Graphics, Photography & Web Design Services

I have been dreading this for the last 6 months but I don’t think that I can adequately express my gratitude to you in form. The last 6 years have been a delight and I don’t want to imagine our office without you. You were the first student I hired and the only consolation I take is that I now get to call you my friend.

- Christ Soldt, Manager, Graphics, Photography & Web Design Services

Josh, you and I both know that after the apocalypse, only the strongest will survive, which is why I'm instructing our pack to eat you first since I can't have any competition for my role as supreme ruler. I know you understand. It's just business. You've been in Video Services for so long that I honestly don't remember a time when you weren't working here and I don't think I can imagine a time without you being here. If there is one person in our office that everyone knows and everyone loves, it's you. You've been a friend to everyone and you're one of the best workers that I've ever had. Everyone loves and respects you... which is why you must be eaten quickly in the new world. Like I said, it's just business. Congratulations and know that if there's anything you ever need don't hesitate to ask.

- Nick Martel, Supervisor, Video Operations & Production

Alexa, you're the only student I've ever had who took the phrase "set the world aflame" literally. It honestly makes sense since you've always been an incredible student and worker. I've relied on you so much to help me train your coworkers that I'm pretty sure you've trained 90% of the people that now work here. You've been a rock that everyone in the office has always trusted and counted on, and no one more than me. Thank you for all of your hard work and I look forward to being a part of your extensive background check when the FBI hires you. Congrats and thanks for everything!

- Nick Martel, Supervisor, Video Operations & Production

Savannah, MTS was always a brighter place when you were working. I know the other staff members were always glad when you were working at the front desk because your positive attitude is so infectious. It was so kind of you to let all of them feel special, even though we both know which office is really the best ;) I'm extremely thankful that you got to be a part of our Video Services community. I admire your natural ability to immediately make someone's day better by walking into the office and paying someone a genuine compliment before you've even put your bag down. Boston College is a better place because you were here. Congratulations and thank you for being a part of our family.

- Nick Martel, Supervisor, Video Operations & Production

Matt, thank you for entertaining the office more than anyone else over the past two years. Even though you only worked here for two years, you embodied the true spirit of Video Services and made everyone know that they were an important part in it... just as long as they didn't beat your high score in Crazy Taxi... Thank you for always being dedicated to your work, welcoming to everyone (especially new people) and for defending the integrity of Science from Derek. Please come back to visit if you're ever in town! Congratulations!

- Nick Martel, Supervisor, Video Operations & Production

Olive, when you first started working for me, I knew that you were interested in learning more about video production, but I had no idea that you were already incredibly skilled and required so little guidance from me. You're extremely talented and my only regret is that I didn't steal you from Wayne sooner! Thank you so much for putting so much effort into your work and taking on so many important recordings for me this year. I'm so lucky that I had you here this year when I needed your talent the most. Thanks again, congratulations, and good luck with grad school!

- Nick Martel, Supervisor, Video Operations & Production

Jake, thank you for always taking one for the team and working so many evening shifts. You have no idea how helpful that is when making the schedule for twenty people, and knowing that I had someone that I could trust to do a great job when I wasn't in the office put me at ease. More importantly, thank you for taking another one for the team and working so many shifts with Josh. Someone had to do it, but it seems like you are a glutton for punishment. I'm really glad that we got to have a real goodbye before you were sent home because of how little I had a chance to spend time with you this year. You've been a great employee and the office was always more fun when you were around. Congrats, good luck on your new career, and I hope you never settle on a facial hair style.

- Nick Martel, Supervisor, Video Operations & Production

Eric, I want to like you more than I can. You've been a great worker that the GAs always count on, an inviting friend to all of your coworkers, and our conversations about films always bring me back to when I first got excited about studying film as an undergrad. But when you suggested that Tyler Austin actually beat Joe Kelly... that is clearly shameless revisionist history, my friend... shameless! I'm truly going to miss all of our great conversations, but please keep in touch and let me know where your film career takes you and know that if you ever need anything that there is at least one Sox fan in Boston who is willing to accept you... I'm not sure who that is, but if you can't find them then I guess I can fill in... just this once... Congratulations and don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything!

- Nick Martel, Supervisor, Video Operations & Production

Caroline has worked with the Project Management Office while she completed her degree at the Woods College.  Caroline was a great asset to our small team. When she started she was very shy but over time she became very comfortable with the work and the people.  She provided great support with BCWorks (PPM Tool) and also expanded her skillset to include Business Analysis tasks.  I was really proud of Caroline during her tenure in the PMO. The quality of her work was excellent and she even stepped completely out of her shell to chair the MRC meetings. Good Luck with the next phase of your career.

 - Denis Walsh, Director, Project, Planning & Portfolio Governance

Eliot worked with the PMO for most of his time at BC.  He was a very hard worker and the quality of his work was excellent.  Always very polite, quiet and a hard worker I remember being pleasantly surprised when Eliot came to me and said he had to change his hours because he had got a DJ gig at the BC Radio Station.  I guess underneath that very business-like exterior was a “wild man”. He provided great support to the PMO in reporting, data analytics and communications.  He was the “bad cop” in that he sent out the reports to BCWorks Resource and Project managers letting them know they had updates to do in the system.  Best of luck Eliot as you move on from BC.

- Denis Walsh, Director, Project, Planning & Portfolio Governance
