ITS Strategic Planning Process Update
Version 1.1 of the ITS Strategic Plan was published in the Spring of 2015. Our goal has been to update the Strategic Plan at least every two years. In January of 2016 Boston College embarked on the University Strategic Planning Initiative (USPI) – a new strategic planning effort to identify institutional priorities for the next decade. We opted to delay our next planning cycle until the University’s plan was finalized.
With the completion of the University Strategic Planning process “Ever to Excel: Advancing Boston College’s Mission” and the publication of the four strategic directions, we are now positioned to begin a new strategic planning process for ITS. We have started this process internally with ITS leadership reviewing the University Plan and performing initial visioning exercises. We have incorporated this review into our annual planning discussions as we look to define the initial stages of new strategic planning process for ITS.
Our goal for this Fall is to continue these conversations and build out our planning process to include representation from across campus.
ITS Strategic Plan - Version 1.1, Spring 2015
I am pleased to present this first update to our strategic plan for information technology at Boston College. Version 1.1 of our plan (PDF) (to view PDFs, download Adobe Reader) demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that, in collaboration with our partners on campus, we continue to identify those initiatives and strategies that are most important to the University. Our goal of keeping our plan current helps ensure that our resources continue to be aligned with the changing priorities of the University and in full support of the dynamic learning, research, service, and student formation initiatives at Boston College.
On behalf of the entire ITS team of dedicated professionals, thank you for your continued interest and support!
Vice President, ITS
The ITS Strategic Plan is focused on six key areas:
Teams of department representatives from across campus joined with their ITS colleagues in a process that included a review of the status of existing goals, objectives, and action items, and concluded with a refreshed Strategic Plan. Prior to this Strategic Plan review, interviews and conversations with faculty, students, and administrators across campus were also conducted and provided valuable input to the process. As well, collaborations with existing groups such as the Academic Technology Advisory Board, Faculty Technology Committee, and Data Security Officers provided insights into the changing needs and uses of technology across the campus. These activities and conversations, in addition to action items from Administrative Program Reviews, have informed and influenced every aspect of our planning process.
Information Technology Services is committed to continue this level of collaboration, communication, and engagement as we regularly revisit our Information Technology Strategic Plan. The plan will continue to be updated to reflect changes to the current environment or University strategic priorities as well as the dynamic changes in technology.
