World Backup Day

March 31 is one of the most important cyber security days of the year - World Backup Day! Don’t be an April Fool and wait any longer to backup your data.

To help you out, here are a few of the best backup services for students (available for both Mac and Windows users):

Google Drive

If you don’t already use Google Drive, now is the time to start. Google Drive lets you create word documents, slide presentations, spreadsheets, and more, which are accessible anytime and on any device! The drive can connect directly to your BC email address, making it easy and simple to keep track of your files.

IDrive Basic

Don’t want to use Google Drive but want an easy way to backup your data? Then IDrive Basic is the plan for you! IDrive Basic offers up to 5GB of free online storage space. The best part? There is unlimited device backup which means you can backup all of your computers, smartphones, and tablets to one single account.

Jottacloud Free

Similar to IDrive Basic, Jottacloud Free online backup plan offers 5GB for free and offers an unlimited number of devices. Plus, an added bonus, you can expand the 5GB free to 10GB free by referring your friends!

USB Flash Drive

Keep it simple and buy a USB flash drive! A USB flash drive is inexpensive and easy to use and reuse. Just plug in the USB to an available USB port, find the “removable disk” in your computer’s drive and then drag the files you want to backup into the drive. You can also reuse the USB forever so it’s a worthy lifelong investment!
