Larry Pickener

Role in Office

Larry Pickener joined the OIP staff in November 2007 and is responsible for programs in Great Britain and Sub-Saharan Africa.


Larry earned his Master’s of Education, with a concentration in Higher Education Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and completed his B.A. at Loyola College in Maryland, where he studied history. Larry studied abroad at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in Great Britain for his entire junior year.

Administrative Experience

Prior to joining Boston College, Larry worked at Skidmore College. At Skidmore, Larry advised students on a variety of programs abroad, particularly in Great Britain. In addition, he supervised the administration of pre-departure orientation and re-entry programming. As a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Larry managed the International Office’s Advising Center and advised students on program options in Great Britain and the Netherlands.

Areas of Interest

His interests in education include: student college choice, access to higher education, cultural immersion for students abroad and helping students integrate their abroad experiences when they return to the United States.
