Patrick O'Donnell

Role in Office

Patrick O’Donnell joined the OIP staff in July 2013 and is responsible for programs in Spain, Portugal and Latin America.


Patrick earned his BA in history from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. To sharpen his Spanish skills, he spent a semester at the University of Oviedo in Spain after completing his undergraduate degree. Patrick has also earned two master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill -- one in journalism and another in international politics. As part of his graduate studies, he spent a year at the University of Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.

Administrative & Academic Experience

Before coming to OIP, Patrick was an advisor for programs in Spain and Latin America at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also taught English in Spain for nine months, had an internship in Washington, DC with the State Department and had another with a media company in Beijing during the 2008 Olympics. Prior to this, he spent a year in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Oakland, California working with homeless senior citizens.

Areas of Interest

Promoting study abroad to underrepresented students, language acquisition and the role of social media in higher education.
