Learning Analytics Working Group

Learning Analytics refers to “the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of data about learners and their contexts, for purposes of understanding and optimizing learning and the environments in which it occurs.” As more teaching and learning is occurring in digital spaces, and more data is generated, it is becoming increasingly important to understand what these data can tell us, and whether they are useful to the teaching and learning process. The Learning Analytics Working Group, sponsored by the Academic Technology Advisory Board and coordinated by the Center for Teaching Excellence, consisted of 9 faculty from across the university who came together to explore the field of Learning Analytics, and its impact on teaching and learning in the LMS. The group was supported by Research Services, as they explored and discussd these data and identified practical applications for course design and student engagement.
