The mission of the University Wind Ensemble is to provide students opportunities to perform the finest and most challenging wind and percussion literature of outstanding composers. The typical member of the University Wind Ensemble is a highly skilled, highly motivated student for whom making music is a personal priority. The ensemble performs large ensemble literature for winds and percussion as well as chamber music. Members receive a small scholarship and free private lessons. Auditions take place at the start of the fall semester.

The Symphonic Band, affectionately known as SymBa, is the largest and most dynamic concert ensemble at Boston College.  Membership is open to the entire Boston College community and includes students, staff, alumni, and community members.  The ensemble peforms a variety of literature from traditional to contemporary wind band music. There are opportunities to participate during the summer as well as the school year.
