Dear Student,

We are writing today with important information regarding Fall 2020 course registration.

Like previous semesters, you will need to access Boston College’s University Information System (UIS) to register for your courses. To install UIS on your computer, visit www.bc.edu/uis.

As of December 1, 2019, Boston College requires that students outside the university network enable Eagle VPN and BC 2-Step Verification to access UIS. However, given the unprecedented number of remote users due to COVID-19, BC is temporarily suspending this requirement for the Fall 2020 course registration period only. Boston College still strongly recommends using Eagle VPN and BC 2-Step Verification to securely access UIS.

  1. (Recommended) Set-up and test Eagle VPN on your computer well in advance of your assigned appointment time to avoid delays with course registration. VPN, which stands for Virtual Private Network, is a more secure method for connecting to services while off campus. Eagle VPN can be downloaded at www.bc.edu/vpn.

Once you have installed and connected to the VPN using 2-Step Verification, you may open UIS and login using your BC credentials.

  2. OR

  3. If Eagle VPN and BC 2-Step Verification are not available to you, open UIS as you would normally and login using your BC credentials.

  4. OR

  5. If you are unable to install UIS, you may use registration.bc.edu to register. Please note that if you choose to use this service you may experience some delays due to bandwidth constraints.

A step-by-step video tutorial and a collection of UIS screenshots detailing the UIS course registration process are available for reference at www.bc.edu/registration. Additional information about pass/fail, overloading, and closed, restricted, and WCAS courses can be found by selecting the “Undergraduate Registration” page from the left-hand menu. Links to Course Information and Schedule are available at www.bc.edu/courses.

No changes have been made to the dates and times for registration appointments. You can view your appointment time in the Agora Portal by selecting “Academic Advisor” and scrolling to the bottom of the page. Please note that dates and times shown are in Eastern Daylight Time.

Students (except for those in WCAS) should review their degree audits well in advance of their registration time. Degree audits can be found under “Academics and Courses” in the Agora Portal. In order to receive your access code, you must consult your academic advisor. Your advisor has your degree audit and will contact you to answer any questions you may have about course selection. Woods College of Advancing Studies students do not have degree audit or access codes but are encouraged to reach out to their advisors and review their programs of study before registering.

If you do not have access to a computer or have a time conflict (due to time difference) with your registration appointment, you may:

  1. Contact your Dean’s office or academic advisor for guidance well before your appointment time.

  2. Contact the Office of Student Services at 800-294-0294 or at studentservices@bc.edu any time after your registration appointment time to have a Service Associate register you.

Important: The above registration methods should only be used by those who cannot register themselves.

For assistance with Eagle VPN or BC 2-Step Verification, contact the Boston College Technology Help Center at 617-552-HELP (4357) or help@bc.edu. For additional questions about UIS or the registration process, visit the Registrar web page at www.bc.edu/registrar or contact the Office of Student Services at 800-294-0294 or studentservices@bc.edu.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
