Academic Year Success Coaches
Academic Year Success Coaches are matched with students with whom they meet regularly to build relationships and provide ongoing accompaniment and guidance. Once schedules are set, Student / Success Coach pairings and meeting times remain consistent through the fall to spring semesters.
During the academic year, Success Coaches meet weekly with their students, on-site at partner schools. These check-ins last roughly 60 minutes and cover a range of student needs. All transportation to and from partner sites will be provided by The Academy.
Additionally, Success Coaches are matched 1:1 with Boston College faculty and staff serving as Senior Success Coaches. Senior Success Coaches provide additional accountability, advising, and support for Success Coaches.
Academic Year Success Coaches commit to:
- Preparation and leadership of weekly student meetings, including but not limited to:
- Building positive relationships with Academy students and providing positive role modeling
- Supporting homework completion, time management, and study skills
- Encouraging goal-setting, future planning, and identity-building.
- Checking teacher and Academy updates, and submitting session notes to track Academy student progress
- Attendance at weekly Success Coach Continuing Education (CE) sessions held on:

- Thursdays, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
*All Success Coaches are required to attend ONE of the two offered meeting times.
Academic year Success Coaching schedules range from 3-8 hours per week and vary based upon student caseload and transportation to and from Academy partner schools. Success Coaches work with Academy staff in August to confirm a schedule that aligns with academic and other commitments, and are paid hourly at $15.00 / hour for their Academy Success Coaching time.
