Undergraduate Courses

BC students should check the Course Information and Schedule for the most up-to-date status of summer courses before submitting a course enrollment request.  (Be sure to choose "Summer 2020" and "Summer Session" in the drop-down menus.)

All summer session courses are online, asynchronous and 7 weeks:

Session I Dates:

Wednesday, May 13 through Friday, June 26

Session II Dates:

Monday, June 29 through Friday, August 14.

We will process registration requests in the order in which they are received. Courses are subject to availability and a request for a course does NOT guarantee you will be enrolled in that course. You will be notified by Student Services when your course request has been processed; you must check in your Agora Portal to see if your requested course was available and you have been registered.

All course drops and withdrawals MUST be processed by the Summer Session office using this form:

Withdrawal requests must be submitted no later than 7 days before the final day of the term.

Boston College reserves the right to change or cancel classes. 

Session 1:

Summer 1 registration is now closed.

Beginning 12:00 AM EDT on Monday, May 18th, Summer Session 1 course drop requests will be processed as withdrawals. Withdrawal requests must be submitted no later than 7 days before the final day of the term.
There is no refund/reversal of tuition for withdrawals. There will be a “W” on your transcript and you will not receive academic credit for the course. A grade of “W” has no effect on the GPA. 
 

Session 2:

Monday, June 29–Friday, August 14

Summer 2 Courses

Summer 2 is accepting registration and
Drop requests through 11:59 PM EDT on Sunday, July 5. 
Beginning 12:00 AM EDT on Monday, July 6th, it is no longer possible to Add into a session 2 course, and drop requests will be processed as withdrawals. Withdrawal requests must be submitted no later than 7 days before the final day of the term.

Asynchronous Online Learning

All online courses are offered this summer via an asynchronous model. Asynchronous online learning does not use weekly live Zoom meetings as the primary source of instruction. Your “classroom” is in Canvas. Each week has its own module that contains discussion boards, instructor lectures, and other video resources, readings, quizzes, with a variety of assignments and projects designed by your professor.   

While you do not have a requirement to be online at a certain time each week, it is expected that you will log on at least four or five times per week to read and listen to new material, engage in asynchronous discussions with classmates, participate in various activities and complete assignments that your profoessor has curated for your learning. You will have specific dates when your assignments are due. Your professor’s expectations of what you need to do and when it will be due are detailed in the online syllabus which you will be able to access when you log in to your Canvas course on the first day of class.
