Profile

Brooke Huminski, MSW, LICSW, is a part-time faculty member at the Boston College School of Social Work where she teaches Clinical Practice with Adults. Brooke received her B.A. in Public and Community Service from Providence College and M.S.W. from Boston College School of Social Work.

Brooke has a private outpatient practice where she sees adolescents, young adults, and adults. She specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, perfectionism, student mental health (college, graduate, medical), and healthcare worker mental health. Additionally, she works as a Psychiatric Emergency Room Clinician at Butler Hospital. She presents regularly to Butler staff as well as to Psychiatry trainees through the Brown Psychiatry Residency Program on clinical topics such as compassion fatigue, eating disorders, and non-stigmatizing clinical language.

Brooke's therapeutic and treatment areas of interest include Family-Based Therapy for Eating Disorders in Adolescents, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Suicidality, the Neuroscience of Attachment, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Brooke is a professional member of the International Association for Eating Disorders, where she is on the Rhode Island Executive Board, as well as the Academy for Eating Disorders, American Association of Suicidology, and NASW.  Brooke's guiding clinical principles include: radical genuineness, a social justice framework, collaboration, a non-judgemental stance, a strengths-based focus, and an ongoing devotion to continued learning.
