Graduate Programs in American Studies

American Studies is offered as a graduate degree across the country. Students can acquire a Master's (M.A.) degree in American Studies that prepares them for teaching, museum work, and other professions in the field of the "public humanities." Students have used this degree for careers in journalism, public broadcasting, law and other occupations. And there are also dozens of Doctoral (Ph.D.) programs in American Studies (and cultural studies); several of the faculty members at Boston College have interdisciplinary degrees in American Studies. If you're interested, the best place to start is by connecting to the American Studies Association and by looking at schools with graduate programs in American Studies.
