Where to Start

Language Requirement

All students in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences must, before graduation, demonstrate proficiency at the intermediate level in a modern foreign language or in a classical language. The Carroll Scool of Management, Lynch School of Education and the Connell School of Nursing do not have a language requirement.

General Guidelines for Placement

Selecting the appropriate language course for your level is an important process that should be done carefully. In this section, you will find some useful guidelines for placement.

Get Ready for the Semester

If you would like to explore some of the readings and films for upcoming Spanish Language Program classes, we have provided a brief list of some of the texts and films reviewed in the course material so that you can both develop an understanding of the level of Spanish in each course and get a head start for future classes if you so desire. These materials are in no way expected to be complete before the start of the corresponding class, but are provided here for your convenience.
