Middle Eastern Astaza! Ensemble
C's newest group, the Middle Eastern Astaza! Ensemble, is dedicated to learning how to play music from cultures of the Middle East: the Arab World, Iran, Turkey, as well as parts of Central Asia. Repertoire covered includes rural and urban repertoires, popular music forms as well as art music genres. The Middle Eastern Ensemble meets from 8:00-10:00 p.m. on Thursdays in Lyons 423. Permission of instructor is required for enrollment. For more information, please contact Ann Lucas or Nizar Ballout.
Auditions: no appointment is necessary, you just come in with your instrument, do some play-by-ear exercises, try out some microtones, and look at some simple reading.
If you have any questions, please e-mail lucasan@bc.edu or ballout@bc.edu.
