Dear graduating students:

Most of you are aware of the University's announcement that 2020 Commencement ceremonies have been postponed until October. We know that you have many questions surrounding graduation. Although we do not yet have a firm date for our ceremony, I wanted to fill you in on conversations we have been having with Balfour regarding your cap and gown rentals.

  • Several students have inquired about the possibility of changing their rental into a purchase. Balfour is working out the logistics for a rent to purchase option, and will get back to us with details soon. In the meantime, you may reach out to Balfour rep jim.okeefe@balfour-rep.com with questions about this.
  • We will distribute your caps and gowns the morning of Commencement in Conte Forum. Balfour will be at Conte starting at 7:30 am to distribute them. We will finalize these plans once a date is confirmed.
  • After the ceremony, students should return their caps and gowns to the Balfour tables in the Conte Forum lobby.
  • Once we formally announce the rescheduled date for the Fall Commencement, any student who cannot or will not attend that date can request a full cap and gown refund from Balfour. We will communicate the process of requesting a refund once the date is confirmed.

Balfour is working on an updated FAQ for their website with this information. We will also post updates to our Commencement website.

Also please remember to register for our Graduating Students Info Session with Dean Rougeau next Wednesday, April 22 at 12:15 pm. We will discuss the latest on Commencement, financial aid, bar, careers and alumni resources, pro bono recognition, and more. Register now.
