Dear Student Org Presidents,
In light of recent circumstances we will be utilizing this email address, firstname.lastname@example.org, to communicate with student organizations in an effort to create more streamlined and consistent communication.
We know that there have been a lot of uncertainties with the transition to an online learning environment, especially for the student organizations. I appreciate the work all of you have done to maintain community among your groups. If you are interested in creating virtual events, even informal social events, please let me know. I can offer ideas and resources, as well as set up Zoom meetings. We utilize Zoom Pro accounts in Student Services and can set up meetings that do not have the same restrictions associated with the Zoom Basic accounts.
If you do choose to go forward with an event or choose to create a new event, please continue to create/edit events through Orgsync. This way the event can be accessible for all students, and the community can see what events are ongoing.
In addition, we have been receiving a number of questions regarding student organization budgets for next year. The Fiscal Office has not yet made a determination on the unspent funds in this year's budgets. However, I want to reassure you that funds left in an organization's budget at the end of this year will not affect next year's budget decisions. That being said it is extremely important that each organization submits a detailed budget request for next year through the Orgsync form: Student Organization Budget Submission 2020 - 2021. These requests should be submitted no later than July 17th.
