Dear Students,

We hope you are all doing well as we enter this final stretch of the semester.   On March 18, we announced that all final exams will be open book, take-home, and online.  We have been working on the many related details for exam administration and write today to provide further information.

Format of Exams
All exams will be administered via ExamSoft.  Since all exams are take-home exams, your computer will not be “locked down” during the exam.  This means you will be able to access materials for the exam saved on your computer while taking your exam.

Exam Schedule
In light of the variety of circumstances all of you are facing, including living in different time zones, we will allow all students to complete timed exams during a 72-hour period beginning at the original exam date and time, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

Example: You are scheduled to take a three-hour exam on Tuesday, April 14th at 9:00am EDT. You can complete the exam any time between the original exam start time and Friday, April 17th at 9:00am EDT. Once the exam is opened you will only have three hours to complete it and the exam must be completed by Friday, April 17th at 9:00am EDT.

Self-scheduled take home exams will be administered in accordance with the usual practice. Given the self-schedule flexibility of the 72-hour window for all exams, there are no exam conflict days. Each exam must be completed in a timely manner in accordance with this policy.

Example: You have two exams scheduled for the same day.  You can self-schedule both exams in two separate three hour blocks over the course of the following 72-hour period.

Accommodations
Students who receive accommodations will continue to do so in this new exam format.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding your testing accommodations, please email lawADAservices@bc.edu

Academic Integrity

Be mindful while taking your exams at home that the Standards for Academic Integrity detailed in the Academic Policies and Procedures remain in effect.  The specific standards are also attached to this email.

Should you have further questions about the above or an unaddressed concern, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at lawacastu@bc.edu.

Take care,
