Dear 3L Students,
As many of you know, Chief Justice Gants just announced that the Massachusetts Bar will not be administered this summer but will be postponed to the fall. The letter states: "In short, graduating law students will have an opportunity this autumn, but not this summer, to be admitted to the Bar of Massachusetts."
Accompanying that announcement, Chief Justice Gants asked "Bar leaders and current members of the Bar to do what you can to allay the concerns of these future members of the Bar." The full text of the letter is available here.
We know that the recent postponements in Massachusetts and New York have thrown many people's plans up in the air. We anticipate that other states will make similar announcements before the NCBE’s projected decision date of Tuesday, May 5. We are continuing to gather information and are meeting with members of the Massachusetts Board of Examiners, as well as representatives for the bar review courses. If you have questions that you would like us to investigate, please email Nina Farber.
We also know that this news brings anxiety and questions. The Bar Support Committee, Dean Jones, and Nina Farber will be meeting later in the week to discuss the situation and plan a meeting for 3L students once we have compiled more information, including information on bar application deadlines.
Please be reassured that we are continuing to monitor the situation and that we are in the process of developing a dedicated webpage to centralize all the bar-related updated information.
Again, we understand how stressful it may be for many of you to be in this situation of uncertainty. Let us know if we can do anything further to be of assistance.
