<p>This class provides a quick, but detailed, review of the neurologic exam, including mental status, cranial nerves, motor function, pupil response, and Glasgow Coma Scale. It describes specific neuro conditions, symptoms and treatment involving traumatic brain injury, increased intracranial pressure, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, seizures, brain tumors, glioblastoma, meningitis, encephalitis, abscess, concussions, Alzheimer’s, dementia, and strokes, including treatments and nursing management.<br> </p>

<p>As a nurse, we should always be asking ourselves and others “Why”??&amp;nbsp; Respiratory care is one area where nurses have a major impact on care. This one day class will review the anatomy and physiology of the cardiopulmonary and respiratory system, respiratory assessment and treatment options.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Students are actively involved in learning a systematic history/physical assessment for respiratory care, learning common respiratory diagnosis and reviewing current treatments and interventions including both the adult and pediatric populations.<br> </p>

Suturing: Advanced Skills and Techniques

<p>Using a skin simulator, participants practice various suturing techniques, including simple and straight lacerations, deep-layer closure, skin closures, and tying knots using hand and instrument ties. The course also covers a variety of common procedures performed in the primary care setting. There is didactic information as well as a hands-on component. This course is geared toward those wishing to refresh their suturing skill, as well as those interested in practicing advanced suturing techniques under professional direction.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Wound Care: Advanced Skills and Techniques

<p>The class will include an overview of the physiology of acute wounds and the pathophysiology of chronic wound healing, hands-on pulsed irrigation debridement, and wound matrix product and will also include complex, leg, and pressure ulcers. In this class, students will contrast differences of acute and chronic wounds and identify wound treatment modalities appropriate for the type of wound. Modern and traditional wound treatment modalities will be discussed.<br /> </p>
