I was impacted greatly by Wellfest. Wellfest gave me the opportunity to connect with a large number of students and provide them with the unique services and warm faculty at the CSW. Wellfest also allowed me to educate students on low-risk drinking strategies in a fun environment and highlight other amazing resources on campus.

How do you practice self-care?
I practice self-care by exercising and practicing gratitude before bed.

One of the most impactful programs I’ve been part of through the Center was the Cross Currents Seminar: Thinking About Wellness, which I took my sophomore year. This experience helped me discover my passion for supporting myself and others in navigating wellness.

One of the most impactful programs I’ve been a part of through the Center was the Cross Currents Seminar: Thinking About Wellness, which I took my sophomore year. This experience helped me discover my passion for supporting myself and others in navigating wellness. The seminar also allowed me to build meaningful connections with my peers across campus. Through the open and honest conversations, we built a strong sense of community, and I also gained a deeper understanding of myself and what wellness means to me!The relationships I formed with Kelly and Jeanine, invaluable members of the center, who taught the class, have been very impactful for me. They’ve become mentors I look up to, and their guidance and support has made my journey here at BC very meaningful.

How do you practice self-care?
I like to practice self-care in a few different ways, depending on
the day. Sometimes to clear my head, I go on long walks and explore new
places. Another way I practice self care is cooking or baking while
listening to my favorite songs. And when I want to unwind, I’ll watch a
movie while doing my skincare routine. Each of these activities gives me
a chance to reset and take care of myself so I can show up fully in
other areas of my life.

The Finals Relaxation programming always comes at just the right time. Not only does it give students the chance to unwind and have meaningful conversations with peers about their mental health and self-care practices, but it also provides friends with the opportunity to meet up for a study break and spend time together during a busy season.

Not only does it give students the chance to unwind and have meaningful conversations with peers about their mental health and self-care practices, but it also provides friends with the opportunity to meet up for a study break and spend time together during a busy season. Yes, we all want to go home at the end of finals, but I appreciate being able to go home at the end of finals knowing that I didn't only invest in my schoolwork, rather, I am proud to have also invested in myself. Sometimes that 15 minute break with snacks, crafts, conversations, or even a massage is all you need to push you to the finish line of finals.

How do you practice self-care?
I always see taking a walk outside, especially by a body of water like the Res or the quiet neighborhoods around campus, as a way to spend time with myself, checking in on what I need so that I can feel like the best, healthiest, and most fulfilled version of myself.

I feel so grateful to be part of a center that truly cares about student well-being and mental health.

One of my favorite parts of working at CSW is getting to sit down with students. Through our BeWell and ChooseWell sessions, I’ve met such a wide range of people, each with their own unique perspective on the BC experience. Having these one-on-one conversations always brings me back to why I chose BC. I feel so grateful to be part of a center that truly cares about student well-being and mental health.

I think the ChooseWell program is a great platform for students to learn about themselves and reflect on their substance use (alcohol, marijuana, etc.) at BC and beyond.

Describe an impactful event, program, or relationship related to the center.
I think the ChooseWell program is a great platform for students to learn about themselves and reflect on their substance use (alcohol, marijuana, etc.) at BC and beyond. The program offers a non-punitive, non-judgmental experience for students on campus looking to align their core values with their personal substance use and learn more about substances themselves.

How do you practice self-care?

I practice self-care by engaging in positive self-talk throughout my day, sometimes appreciating even the smallest victories. I also watch the TV show Nathan For You with my roommates to just laugh, especially after a rough day.
