General Information:

The earliest date that students with an approved early arrival can return to campus is Sunday, August 18, 2019. In order to to be approved for early arrival, a student must be a part of a group considered essential to the opening of the University, or meet the criteria listed on their class fall opening webpage. Some examples of groups include, but are not limited to:

  • Athletic and Band Preseason
  • Emerging Leadership Program (ELP)
  • International students, Orientation Leaders
  • Portico, Resident Hall Association Executive Board (RHA)
  • Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)
  • Undergraduate Government of Boston College (UGBC) Executive Board
  • Welcome Wagon

Students may also demonstrate  an extenuating and extraordinary individual circumstance in order to be considered for an early move-in. The circumstances include:

  • Expiring Off-Campus Lease
  • Travel restrictions or limitations
  • An extraordinary circumstance that prevents travel to campus during the regular move-in dates (Saturday, August 24 to Sunday, August 25)

All early arrival requests are subject to review by the Office of Residential Life and may be subject to a $75/night fee. The following exceptions apply:

  • Students who participate in university sponsored program groups receive up to two free nights and $75/night for every night afterwards
  • Students may receive up to three free nights for participating in Welcome Wagon Program and $75/night for every night afterwards
  • Students who are required to be on-campus for a mandatory program (orientation, first year student programs, varsity athletes) are not subject to early arrival fees
  • Students who apply after the application deadline or arrive on campus without an approved early arrival will be subject to a $100 administrative fee in addition to the $75/night fee and will be referred to the student conduct system

Please Note: Applicants who are not approved for Early Arrival are allowed to check-in on the following dates:

  • First-Year Students: Thursday, August 22, 2019
  • Upperclassmen and Transfer Students: Saturday, August 24, 2019

Expiring Lease Exception:

Students who are currently living off-campus in the Chestnut Hill/Brighton/Allston area with a Fall 2018 on-campus housing assignment may apply for early arrival if and only if they have an expiring lease. The earliest date that students with an expiring lease for off-campus housing can return on campus is Sunday, August 18, 2019. In order to be approved for early arrival, students must provide a copy of their lease agreement indicating the date their lease expires.

*Please note that students can only move back on-campus on the day of or anytime after their lease expires.

General Information:

The earliest date that students with an approved early arrival can return to campus is Thursday, January 02, 2020. Students may apply for early arrival for one of the following reasons:

  • Involvement in student teaching
  • Involvement in University athletic events
  • University-sponsored service trips
  • Attendance at new student orientation

Please note that no Spring Early Arrival or access will be granted anytime before Thursday, Janurary 02, 2020.

Students who are not approved for Spring Early Arrival will be notified by email and may return to the residence hall no earlier than Saturday, Janurary 11, 2020 at 9:00 A.M. All applications must be approved by the Residental Life staff.

Students may apply for extension housing if they have a documented need to remain on campus one additional night, Friday, December 20, 2019 until 11:00 A.M. Applicable documented needs include, but are not limited to:

  • Involvement in student teaching
  • Long-distance travel
  • Athletics

Students without an approved extension must be checked out of their academic-year assignments by 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 19, 2019.

No Extensions will be allowed past Friday, December 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M.

Group/Individual Application Deadline: Friday, May 03, 2019

General Information:

Students may apply for extension housing if they have a documented need to remain on campus after their designated check-out time. All applications must be approved by the Residential Life staff. Examples of students who qualify for Extension Housing include, but are not limited to:

  • Students involved in Commencement activities
  • Students involved in service trips
  • Athletes involved in post-season competition

Types Of Extensions:

In-Room Extensions disallowed for Vanderslice, 90 STM, and Gabelli: Undergraduates who are living in Vanderslice, 90 STM, or Gabelli will not be granted an extension to stay in their current placement past 5PM on May 14th. If approved for an extension, residents will move to 66 Commonwealth Ave on May 14th and stay there for the duration of their housing extension.

In-Room Extension: Undergraduates who are not living in Vanderslice, 90 STM, or Gabelli may apply to stay in their Spring placements if approved. Only one night extensions will be granted for students with documented travel reasons to stay on campus. Students approved for a one night extension must vacate their residence hall by 11AM on May 15th. Students with other documented reasons for an extension, such as commencement activities, service trips, or athletes in post-season competition, need to apply  for an extension noting the group that they are involved with on campus. Students who are approved can stay in their spring placement for the duration of their extension, with the latest possible date being May 20th.
