General Information:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a select number of students (including those with an expiring off-campus lease) and groups will be approved for early arrivals in August 2020. In order to to be approved for early arrival, a student must be a part of a group considered essential to the opening of the University.

All early arrival requests are subject to review by the Office of Residential Life.

More information regarding early arrival procedures and guidelines will be provided by July 1, 2020.

General Information:

The earliest date that students with an approved early arrival can return to campus is Thursday, January 02, 2020. Students may apply for early arrival for one of the following reasons:

  • Involvement in student teaching
  • Involvement in University athletic events
  • University-sponsored service trips
  • Attendance at new student orientation

Please note that no Spring Early Arrival or access will be granted anytime before Thursday, Janurary 02, 2020.

Students who are not approved for Spring Early Arrival will be notified by email and may return to the residence hall no earlier than Saturday, Janurary 11, 2020 at 9:00 A.M. All applications must be approved by the Residental Life staff.

Students may apply for extension housing if they have a documented need to remain on campus one additional night, Friday, December 20, 2019 until 11:00 A.M. Applicable documented needs include, but are not limited to:

  • Involvement in student teaching
  • Long-distance travel
  • Athletics

Students without an approved extension must be checked out of their academic-year assignments by 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 19, 2019.

No Extensions will be allowed past Friday, December 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M.

The Extension Application opens on Monday, March 30th and closes on Friday, May 1st. Any graduating student who has a need to stay past 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12th must submit an extension application.

General Information:

Students may apply for extension housing if they have a documented need to remain on campus after their designated check-out time. All applications must be approved by the Residential Life staff. Examples of students who qualify for Extension Housing include, but are not limited to:

  • Students involved in Commencement activities
  • Students involved in service trips
  • Athletes involved in post-season competition

Types Of Extensions:

In-Room Extensions disallowed for Vanderslice, 90 STM, and Reservoir: Undergraduates who are living in Vanderslice, 90 STM, or Reservoir will not be granted an extension to stay in their current placement past 5PM on May 12th. If approved for an extension, residents will move to 66 Commonwealth Ave on May 12th and stay there for the duration of their housing extension.

In-Room Extension: Undergraduates who are not living in Vanderslice, 90 STM, or Reservoir may apply to stay in their Spring placements if approved. Only one night extensions will be granted for students with documented travel reasons to stay on campus. Students approved for a one night extension must vacate their residence hall by 11AM on May 13th. Students with other documented reasons for an extension, such as commencement activities, service trips, or athletes in post-season competition, need to apply  for an extension noting the group that they are involved with on campus. Students who are approved can stay in their spring placement for the duration of their extension (no later than 8 p.m. on Monday, May 18th).
