Become a Student’s Champion

Gasson Hall

Boston College’s Jesuit, Catholic mission is grounded in welcoming talented students from every background to the Heights. Saint Ignatius of Loyola said that Jesuit education should be for anyone who could meet their high academic standards— “everybody, poor and rich.”

The University strives to fulfill that promise through need-blind admissions and fully meeting students’ demonstrated financial need. This financial support is only possible thanks to alumni, parents, and friends like you. Without BC’s philanthropic partners, thousands of students would not be able to access all the Heights has to offer.

A BC Fund Scholarship is made possible with an annual gift of $25,000 or more, put to immediate use to support the tuition costs of a current student.

When you fund a scholarship, you have opportunities to develop closer relationships with your scholar and the University. You will receive annual letters of gratitude and opportunities to meet BC Fund scholars in person.

Why is donor support for financial aid so crucial at Boston College?

BC is one of only 20 national private universities that are “need blind” – accepting student on their merits alone – and meet the full demonstrated financial need of all accepted undergraduate applicants.

For the 2019–20 academic year, BC is distributing more financial aid than ever before in its history—over $152 million, an increase of more than $66 million in the last decade. This impressive support for students is impacted by the investments made by BC alumni, parents, and friends.

As a Houston native, I came to Boston College wanting to be uncomfortable, challenged, and exposed to new cultures. Not only has financial aid afforded me opportunities, but it has reaffirmed that I want to do meaningful work where I can be a voice for those who do not have power.
