Initiatives
Beyond research and academics, the Schiller Institute promotes its mission through a range of interdisciplinary initiatives. A current initiative is the BC@UNCOP series, which aims to build awareness of global climate change policymaking through programming featuring faculty and other experts; a one-credit, team taught course; and the University's official delegation that attends the annual UN Climate Change Conference. The scourge of environmental racism has been explored through research and advocacy programming. The Environmental Racism programs aimed to shed light on the disparities marginalized people face due to climate change. We plan more programs on this important topic in the future. Finally, Schiller continues to position itself as a leader in research on interdisciplinarity. We began with a fruitful workshop on interdisciplinary buildings and plan to continue this work at future biannual conferences.
