Courtney Uek is a senior on the pre-med track, with a minor in Global Public Health and the Common Good. She first became interested in Global Public Health her freshman year, through a service-learning trip to Lima, Peru. Courtney's experiences in Lima, where she worked on mobile clinics and on community projects alongside the members living in mountain-side communities opened her eyes to a multitude of inequities. Since then, Courtney has known that she would like to find a career in which she can contribute to alleviating healthcare inequities. This summer, Courtney interned at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health working on projects pertaining to environmental health and social determinants of health. Courtney is also excited about her role as the president of BC MEDLIFE this year. Post-graduation, Courtney plans to take all of these experiences, as well as her GPHCG education, and apply them to her pursuits of a career in global healthcare!
