Alexa Lombardi is a junior in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences, and she is majoring in Biology on the Pre-Medical track. She also has minors in Global Public Health & the Common Good, as well as Educational Leadership in Higher Education & Community Settings in the Lynch School of Education and Human Development. Pre-college exposure to topics including substance use disorders and harm reduction interventions interested Alexa in furthering her knowledge in the field of public health and pursuing the minor here at Boston College. She spent this summer working with Dr. Ju Park, an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology (Research) at Brown University, and faculty at the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) on Opioids and Overdose, as part of her Harm Reduction Innovation Lab. Alexa is in the process of writing a paper discussing overdose detection technologies to reduce solitary overdose deaths. On campus, she is a member of the Mendel Society, the Bioethics Society of Boston College, and the Student Admissions Program as a tour guide and panelist. Alexa intends to use her experience in public health to better represent the needs of her community in medical school and beyond.
