Become a Mentor
Ever to Excel Mentor Program 2020
Join us this summer at the Ever to Excel program and serve as a Mentor for high school students from around the world. Mentors strive to inspire students about Jesuit spirituality, especially with regard to Jesuit education, Boston College, and the city of Boston. The five day opportunity includes keynote presentations from some of BC's finest community members, an excursion into Boston, and an opportunity to serve others. Students can apply to mentor for either Session I, Session II, or both.
In addition to the benefit of participating, mentor compensation includes a stipend of $800 and room and board for each session they are selected. Duties include but are not limited to:
– Welcoming participants and assisting Ever to Excel staff with check-in and check-out
– Leading small groups and facilitating discussions about daily themes
– Assisting in preparation of daily events
– Helping ensure hospitality for participants throughout the week
The success of the Ever to Excel program depends on leadership from Boston College students. Mentors should demonstrate an interior confidence, fed by their faith, which enables them to relate to others with warmth and affection. Mentors arrive two days before participants and receive formation for providing strong leadership for the small groups that will meet throughout the week. Mentors facilitate conversation, present personal testimonies and reflections, and exercise leadership for making the week a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved in Ever to Excel. Participants should leave Ever to Excel feeling they have had a special encounter with the best of Boston College, especially through encounters with Mentors who exemplify the heart of Jesuit spirituality—to find God in all things. Mentors receive free room and board for the duration of the training and the program itself in addition to a $800 stipend.
You must be a current Boston College student in good standing with the University.
Depending upon the session, Mentors are expected to be available for the following dates:
Mentor meet and greet pizza party: April 2020
Mentor Session I: arrive Friday evening, July 24 - Friday, July 31, 2020
Mentor Session II: Friday, July 31 - Friday, August 7, 2020
