Dear Members of the Boston College Community:
The City of Boston has approved our revised Commencement plan, which will allow undergraduates receiving degrees to invite two guests to the Baccalaureate Mass on May 23, graduation in Alumni Stadium on May 24, and to the school diploma ceremonies that will take place that day in locations across campus.
Graduate students will be able to invite one guest to the Baccalaureate Mass and their school-specific ceremony on May 23, and to the main ceremony on May 24. The Law School will host its graduation ceremony on May 28.
The University submitted its plan to the City of Boston after Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker announced last week that the Commonwealth would expand attendance at outdoor venues to 25 percent of capacity beginning on May 10. The plan was approved last evening by the Boston Public Health Commission and the Boston Licensing Board.
In accordance with state and local regulations, all attendees must wear face coverings at indoor and outdoor events, and adhere to physical distancing requirements. All guests will be required to register and complete a health attestation via the BC Check App, which they will receive through the advanced registration process. In light of the plan’s approval, all of our graduates will now be required to re-register via a forthcoming email.
Information regarding guest registration, parking, accessibility, and other Commencement details will be shared in the coming days. Please refer to the Commencement Website for up-to-date information.
The main Commencement ceremony and the individual school ceremonies will also be live streamed at http://on.bc.edu/2021CommencementPL.
In addition, Boston College’s Senior Week Committee will soon be announcing details regarding Senior Week activities for members of the Class of 2021. Highlights of Senior Week 2021 will include Dinner through the Decades, A Night Under the Stars, Back to the Beginning BBQs on Upper and Newton campuses, Mod Relays, Agape Lattes, Candlelight Masses, Boston Duck Tours, and wellness activities. A second BC After Dark location with increased capacity will open in Lyons Hall and will feature several trivia nights.
Congratulations to all members of the Class of 2021. We look forward to celebrating your accomplishments at Boston College’s 144th Commencement Exercises.
Sincerely, Casey Beaumier, S.J., Vice President and University Secretary Leah DeCosta Spencer Associate Vice President, Alumni Relations |
