Boston College has accepted an invitation to the 2018 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl and will face No. 23/24 Boise State from the Mountain West Conference. ESPN has broadcast coverage of the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at 1:30 p.m., from the historic Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.
The SERVPRO First Responder Bowl is the 27
th bowl appearance in school history for Boston College and the 17
th bowl in the last 20 years for the Eagles. It will be BC's second bowl matchup against Boise State in postseason play. The Eagles defeated Boise State 27-21 in the 2005 MPC Computers Bowl in Boise.
BC will play a bowl game in Texas for the third time in school history as the Eagles won the 1985 Cotton Bowl 45-28 over Houston. BC played its first bowl game in the 1940 Cotton Bowl losing 6-3 to Clemson on January 1, 1940.
The Eagles are 14-12 all-time in bowl games after last season's 27-20 loss to Iowa in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.
Head coach
Steve Addazio has led the Eagles (7-5, 4-4 ACC) to five bowls in his first six years, the only head coach in BC history to do so.
Boston College set a school record with 13 players earning All-ACC football honors. Four Eagles collected All-ACC first-team honors, the most in school history as well. The 13 All-ACC selections for Boston College broke the previous school best mark of nine set in 2007, 2008, 2013 and 2017.
