What do you love about Boston College?

My freshman year at Boston College has been a highly formative experience for me because of the friends I've made and the teachers I've had that are willing to challenge you (in the best way possible) and help you grow as a person. My favorite thing about BC so far has definitely been Professor Kerry Cronin's Perspectives class and the Perspectives Living Learning Program on Newton Campus. The people in my Perspectives class are some of my very best friends today and I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to both live and learn with other students that enjoy what they're learning as much as I do. It's a great feeling and at BC so many students are really passionate about the classes they're taking or the clubs that they're part of and it really helps provide that sense of community, family, and home that so many people look for in their college experience.

What do you love about Ever to Excel?

Ever to Excel gave high school students an incredible chance to learn and reflect about themselves and their spirituality in reflection with students their age from all over the country and world. That is a beautiful thing.

Ever to excel brought me so much joy. It was incredible to see the students grow close to each other and to God throughout the week...Ever to Excel renewed my faith in a new and exciting way. Hearing all the incredible speakers, the beautiful faith of the leaders around me, and seeing the students experience the week was wonderful.

What do you love about Boston College?

Have you ever found yourself somewhere completely in awe -- surrounded by people who deeply challenge, fervently encourage and completely inspire you?! I very much hope so. For me, that somewhere is here. Here at Boston College, here with these homies.

In Exodus, God asks Moses to take off his shoes because the place where he is standing is holy ground, where God is fully present. There have been many moments where I have taken off my own shoes (typically green or blue crocs, which I'm pretty sure Moses would have been wearing too if crocs had existed back then) and walked around, stepping in gratitude, trusting and knowing that here at BC, I too am in the presence of God. And gratitude, I believe, is the heartbeat of this campus.

What did you love about Ever to Excel 2016?

I love that Ever to Excel was a bridge to connect students around the world to join together in sharing stories and exploring life together. Ever to Excel is a space to be authentic, to come as you are, and to be loved just so -- how God loves us. This program is full of people who desire grow, to share joy and to make friends. We are so loved, that's why we even exist!!! And here at Ever to Excel, we celebrate that. And it is the most fun thing.

What do you love about Boston College?

My favorite experience at Boston College is the opportunity for service! I was part of the PULSE program my freshman year and volunteered at a homeless shelter for young women and children. I am part of 4Boston and volunteer each week at a school for children who are blind. I was even able to journey to Guatemala with amazing BC students and learn more about the world wide struggles of our human family with the Arrupe program.

Describe your experience as a Mentor for Ever to Excel 2016:

The high school students who come to Ever to Excel are my absolute favorite! Each student was so inspired to learn, have fun, and be goofy while doing so. The best part is sharing my faith and what I have learned about Jesuit spirituality with all the students!

What do you love about Ever to Excel?

Ever to Excel is a week about discovering that many of the important and precious things in life stem from the heart. It empowers students to make a difference in their communities backed by the belief that they have so much to offer to a world very much in need of their talents. I loved being a mentor in the inaugural Ever to Excel, where I connected with fellow BC students and kids from all over the world. From the group hike we took together outside of Boston to the nightly candlelight masses, it was such a fulfilling week with so many meaningful moments.

There is such a diverse selection of student groups and opportunities on-campus and off-campus that every student can participate in. What do you love about Boston College?

I am constantly in awe of the people who are at Boston College. Whether they be a member of our faculty, staff, or student body, the Boston College community is grounded in its drive, passion, and heart. Students here are driven to embrace the incredible plethora of resources we have here to learn and grow, and professors feed that drive by sharing their strengths and connections to foster that love for learning and intellectual development. I am surrounded by passionate people who bring their talents outside of the classroom into our community, which creates such a vibrant atmosphere of dancers and debaters, athletes and artists, pursuers of knowledge and of justice. We use the motto "Men and Women for Others" that can be applied to life outside of Boston College, but I am humbled by the individuals who are constantly serving one another through friendships, conversations, and connections. As the oldest child in my family, I was unsure about many aspects of college life, but at BC, I was lucky enough to develop relationships with upperclassmen mentors and friends who guided me and helped me find my footing in our community. We have a culture in which every class wishes to make the transition into the Boston College community easier than it was for themselves, and I know I have been the recipient of that love and support. The drive, passion, and heart of the Boston College family allow each to create their own space to shine while also growing holistically in mind, spirit, and character. I think that's why there is such an infectious pride in both our alumni family and our community here on campus to be an Eagle and to dynamically enhance the definition of what it means to be an Eagle.
