What are Ever to Excel’s daily activities?

In addition to inspiring talks from Keynote presenters, small group conversations, individual reflection, and prayer time, Ever to Excel includes an excursion to the greater Boston area, a BC campus and athletics facilities tour, as well as a presentation from the Office of Undergraduate Admission.

Who can participate?

Ever to Excel is for any high school students who are rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are interested in exploring faith through the lens of the Catholic spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits. Last year students included Catholics and non-Catholic Christians. The cohort included students from outside the United States and the Christian tradition.

Is it permissible to attend less than the full week?

No! By registering for the program, you are agreeing to join us from Sunday by 5:00 pm until Friday at 12:30 pm.

How are students chaperoned during the week?

Students will be closely chaperoned throughout the week. Our program employs and trains 30 Boston College undergraduate students who will serve as Mentors of the small groups. Dorms will be further supervised by Boston College’s residential life staff. There will also be a number of adults leading the group.

How do I apply?

Students apply through the online application.

Is there a fee to attend?

Ever to Excel receives financial support from the Lilly Foundation that enables us to offer this program for a limited time at a low cost. The non-refundable $200 fee is payable upon acceptance to the Ever to Excel program. Those accepted into the program will receive an email with detailed information, including how to make the payment. All participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the Boston College campus.

Is there financial assistance?

Students in need of financial assistance for travel to Boston should indicate this on the application. We have limited assistance available.

Is the registration fee refundable?

The $200 deposit is not refundable.

How do I get to Boston College?

From Downtown Boston: Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (Route 90) to Exit 17. Take a left over the bridge after passing the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Take the first right onto Center Street. Follow Centre Street to the fourth set of lights, and turn left onto Commonwealth Avenue. Follow Commonwealth Avenue 1½ miles to Boston College.

Fly: Boston Logan Airport
Train / Bus: South Station

BC is conveniently located at the end of the B branch of the Green Line, Boston’s MBTA transit system, which is accessible from Logan Airport and South Station. If you’re coming from Logan Airport and South Station you’ll want to plan the following amount of time for travel for BC:

The “T” (MBTA):
From Logan: ~ 60 minutes
From South Station ~45 minutes

Students must make their own arrangements for getting to and from Boston College.

Do you accept roommate requests for Ever to Excel?

Students will have a roommate. Students who have specific roommate requests can indicate so on the application and we will do our best to accommodate.  

When will I hear about my acceptance?

Notifications will be sent to all applicants no later than Friday, May 19th. 

When is the deadline to apply?

All applications are due by Friday, April 21, 2017.

Do you offer mail-in applications?

Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications we receive, we ask that all applications be completed online. If you are having trouble applying online please contact us via email at iajs@bc.edu.
