Our Approach

Mixed Methods

We have built out models that apply a sequence of mixed qualitative and quantitative methods as a way to address some of the measurement challenges faced by the field. This innovative mixed methods process has been applied in a range of settings. This process expands the traditional psychopathological approach to one that also examines local protective processes linked to resilient outcomes.

CBPR

Guided by a community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach, we engage our community partners at every stage of the research process. The RPCA hires and trains Community Health Workers and research assistants from the communities we work with, and uses outreach events to engage other community members. We rely on Community Advisory Boards (CABs), whose members serve as liaisons between the research program and the community and advise the research team on community needs and cultural considerations.
