Vice Provost for Global Engagement
Alberto Godenzi, Ph.D., is Boston College’s vice provost for Global Engagement, and professor of Global Practice at the School of Social Work, where he was dean from 2001 to 2016. His current charge is to increase the presence and impact of Boston College on the global stage. He is particularly interested in comprehensive internationalization, i.e. in leveraging the dynamic interplay between strategic global partnerships, internationalizing learning, faculty global engagement, and student mobility. Dr. Godenzi’s research focused on violence against women. He was part of the Council of Europe’s Group of Specialists for Combating Violence Against Women, and served on the Commission for the Protection of Children of the Archdiocese of Boston. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Council on Social Work Education, and president of the National Association of Deans and Directors of Schools of Social Work. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Venice International University.
