Prof. Tao Li Elected Fellow of the AMS
Prof. Tao Li is one of 50 distinguished mathematicians from around the world elected Fellows of the American Mathematical Society.

BC-NeU Algebraic Geometry Conference
The third biannual BC-Northeastern Algebraic Geometry Conference will take place at Boston College on Saturday April 30 in Higgins Hall 310.

Distinguished Lecturer Series
Prof. Amie Wilkinson of the University of Chicago presented this year's BC Distinguished Lecturer in Mathematics series, April 13-15.

Faculty Book: Second Edition
The second edition of part-time faculty member Dr. Paul R. Garvey's book “Probability Methods for Cost Uncertainty Analysis: A Systems Engineering Perspective” was published by Chapman & Hall/CRC-Press.

New Patent
Part-Time Faculty Member Dr. Paul Garvey and two colleagues have received a new patent entitled "Computerized Methods for Analyzing Competing and Non-Competing Hypotheses."

Preparation for Putnam Exam

New NSF Grants
Congratulations to Profs. John Baldwin, Martin Bridgeman, Sol Friedberg, Joshua Greene, Ben Howard, and David Treumann, who have recently been awarded new NSF grants in support of their research. The math department now has 17 faculty members with active NSF grants.

Fellowship Winner
Congratulations to graduate student Diana Hubbard, who has been awarded an America Dissertation Fellowship by the American Association of University Women, as she completes her Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Eli Grigsby. She has also been appointed a BC Dean's Teaching Fellow.
